The video signal components B-Y and R-Y, respectively after they are modulated onto a color subcarrier suitable for subsequent construction of a composite video signal. To produce the picture, the luminance signal Y is also needed. U and V are used a lot for PAL composite video. Use of U and V in NTSC composite video is done but it does not quite optimize the color horizontal resolution to the maximum sensitivity of the human eye to reddish orange and greenish blue.
